Keith Williams joined our Olympic Peninsula YMCA team on Monday, November 4th as the new Branch Executive for Jefferson County. Keith was born in Detroit and grew up in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and South Dakota. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation, and Community Education from Mankato State University, with an emphasis on Natural Resource Management, followed by a master’s degree in administration of Recreational Services from the University of Northern Colorado.

His professional journey began with the Boy Scouts of America, where he served as Executive Director across Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and South Dakota. He later transitioned into municipal government, becoming Director of Recreation and Senior Services for the City of Louisville, Colorado, during its rapid growth in the 1990s. Keith also served as Regional Facilities Director for the City of Boulder, overseeing multiple community and recreation facilities.

At the YMCA of Northern Colorado, Keith held several key leadership roles, including Vice President of Facilities, Executive Director, and Chief Properties Officer. In these positions, he spearheaded master planning, facility construction, and project management, including the development and renovation of five aquatic swimming complexes along with a new 70,000-square-foot community facility in with a strong/effective partnership with local government and the YMCA. His expertise extended to managing multifaceted recreational centers, including ice arenas, swimming pools, fitness centers, and childcare programs, from  Boulder, Colorado to Cheyenne, Wyoming.

In addition to his professional achievements, Keith has a passion for ice hockey, Nordic ski jumping, cross-country skiing, mountain climbing and hiking throughout his life. He is also a trumpet player. Keith’s career reflects a deep commitment to enhancing community life through recreation, facility development, and strong community relationships.
