What is a Wellness Center?
What's the difference between a Wellness Center and a gym? We approach wellness in spirit, mind, and body, with the understanding that all three need nurturing for someone to truly be well. That's why we don't have gyms—we have Wellness Centers at our YMCAs in Sequim and Port Angeles.
Our goal is ensure individuals of all ages are supported on their health and wellness journeys, and we pride ourselves on not fitting into that "get in, get out" mold of a gym that promise standard equipment and minimal social interaction. That's not how we build community at the YMCA.
Find Community in Wellness
At our Wellness Centers, you'll find knowledgeable and caring wellness coaches that can show you how to use our weight machines and cardio equipment. To learn more about free-weights and other equipment or to create a personalized workout plan, make an appointment with one of our personal trainers.
Our wellness coaches are ready to give you a tour of our Wellness Center and are available to answer questions during your visit. To help you set goals and build community, we have monthly Wellness Challenges. Check with your local Wellness Center for participation information.
Special Needs Wellness
At the Y, we have something for everyone regardless of ability. If you would like to use the Wellness Center and need assistance with modifications for any of our equipment, please ask a wellness coach and they are happy to help. For more in-depth help and support, schedule an appointment with one of our personal trainers.
Keeping You Safe
Before you use our Wellness Centers, please take a minute to review our Wellness Center Guidelines including our age guidelines to keep your children safe in our facilities.
